Remember, we built a jigsaw puzzle,
Remember, we spent hours together,
Trying to reach the end,
Sometimes holding each other's hand.
We began to set up the outline.
It was easy, first pieces were straight.
Then we experienced some difficulty :
A piece we were sure of,
It should have fit with the rest.
But it was just a similarity,
And we had nothing to do except to leave it aside.
What a shame, no one to blame.
We were sitting closely around the game.
When one of us had found the right element,
We laughed and kissed, congratulated,
We had won.
But after some trials, as time passed away,
We never finished the picture, there was a hole.
The missing piece, which spoilt the whole,
And just before you left me here a lone,
We found it back, the painting was filled with life.
In the end, happy end.
My parents too built a jig saw puzzle.
It was me, they spent hours together,
Trying to make a man, sometimes holding each other's hand.
They only could draw the outline.
I escaped, and tried to fill the rest,
Then I experienced some difficulty,
A girl I was sure of, she should have been here for the best.
But it was just a similarity,
Full of regrets, I had to leave her aside.
What a shame, no one to blame.
One day, you softly came into the game.
Each one of us had found the right element,
We laughed and kissed, congratulated,
We had won.
But after a while, as time passed away,
You suddenly left the picture, and you are now
The missing piece, your absence spoils my life.
And just before you left me here alone,
You promised you'd come back and give a meaning to my life.

In which we are only pawns.
We were in the chaotic bag but now we are fitting together.
As closely as we can, as tightly as we can,
Each one of us was happy to find his missing piece.

mes archives, j'ai retrouvé la partition de cette chanson en engliche
que j'ai écrite et enregistrée (à l'époque
sur un TEAC 4 pistes) pour ma petite amie
irlandaise Andrée. Alors je l'ai réenregistrée et
j'ai pu constater que mes arrangements
n'ont pas tant évolué...
